At the heart of the line is a casting bath. Casting is a traditional process for producing castings—in this case, ingots. In principle, molten metal is poured into molds, known as ingot molds. Once the molten metal has solidified and cooled sufficiently, the ingots can be removed. In the selected casting bath design, a large number of molds are mounted on a closed conveyor chain. Solidification occurs during the continuous process on the upper section of the chain. At the end, where the idler sprocket is located, the ingots fall out of the molds by gravity. All downstream machinery and equipment are solely responsible for grouping the individual ingots into packages for transport and storage. The finished packages may only be removed using suitable industrial trucks (forklifts).
